Fátima is a city in central Portugal, known worldwide for its role as one of the main Catholic pilgrimage destinations. The city gained notoriety after the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, in May 1917. These events are commemorated in the Sanctuary of Fátima, a religious complex that includes the Basilica of Our Lady of Fátima, the Chapel of Apparitions and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity. The Shrine attracts millions of visitors and pilgrims every year, who come to pray, attend masses and religious events, and seek spiritual comfort. image.png589.4 KBIn addition to its religious significance, Fátima offers a number of attractions, such as the Wax Museum and the Garden of the Shepherds, which commemorate the history of the apparitions.
